What Are You Doing?

Twitter is taking over the world.
I talk a lot about Twitter and as you see from the top of my homepage, I use Twitter a whole lot. Recently I can’t go anywhere without people asking me “what is Twitter?” I’m so passionate about it that I’m convincing folks left and right to jump on board.
Earlier this week I sat down to write a long post on the use of Twitter in politics and as I got about 10 minutes and three paragraphs into it, I got a Tweet from my buddy David All about his new Twitter 101 Guide. Well…I fundamentally believe that it’s pretty stupid to waste your time recreating something someone has already taken care of, so I’m urging you to visit David’s website at www.davidallgroup.com and download his new guide.
For a small sample, here are David’s Top 10 Twitter Tips & Tricks
- Sign-up: Secure your account now before someone else does. Grab your personal and org’s Twitter URL. You need your brand.
- Stick with It: “Getting” its value takes time. Use it often and that value will hit you one day when you least expect it. Promise.
- Follow Interesting People and Reply to Their Tweets: All replies (@user) are read. Start with one and see who they follow. Follow them.
- Don’t be Afraid to Remove Someone: The value of Twitter will only be realized if the conversation is relevant to what you care about.
- Stay Connected: Link up Twitter on your IM, download a desktop client (twhirl), or a Firefox browser plug-in (TwitterBar or TwitterFox).
- Stay Connected II: Rock a BlackBerry? DL TwitterBerry. *Heart* your iPhone? DL Twitterific. Better features & access your entire network.
- Only Follow a Few via SMS: Follow those you really love on your cell phone. Keep it to 20 or less, you’ll be glad you did.
- Be Authentic | Responsible: Twitterers are real people who do real things. Sometimes they make mistakes. Just think before you Tweet.
- Get Your Blog On: Automatically post RSS feeds to your Twitter account using “TwitterFeed.” Watch traffic go up and relevance increase.
- Ask Questions: The easiest way to grow followers is to get others to talk to or about you. Try me: “What Twitter tips did I miss?”

Hmm…mine are working fine. As are the Twitterfeeds for all my candidates. Are you sure you entered your RSS feeds in correctly?
