Will Folks has it figured out
I’m very impressed by Will’s ability to play the SEO game. A lot of folks think that Will posts the T&A because he has a fetish for celebrity curves. I didn’t figure it out until I clicked on my Google News tab and FITSNews.com was the first link. No, I wasn’t searching for a specific South Carolina article. It was the plain ole’ Google News tab that every one else in the nation sees. And FITSNews.com was the first link. I couldn’t freakin believe it. FITS isn’t even a MSM outlet. It’s a freakin blog!!
How did this happen?
It happened because Will posts celebrity and national political news as soon as they happen. When someone does a Google news search for “Katie Stam” today, FITSNews.com is the 15th article on the page.
Why does that matter?
It matters because it drives Will’s hits through the roof, which in turn drives his Google Ad revenue through the roof. It also gives him the opportunity to tell potential advertisers that FITS gets 5,000+ unique hits a day…a figure I believe is legit.
And then there’s today’s blackmail story. At the time of this post, Will’s story has 60 comments. That’s a lot for a one post. It’s probably at least 50% bullshit, but it’s salacious enough and just believable enough to have every South Carolina politico talking.
Yeah, every single one.! I can’t tell you how many calls I got about it today. Hell, I even had three different reporters ask me about it.
That brings me to the reason for this post. Today I noticed that Will is charging $120 for his morning email of the day’s top news stories.
WHAT!?!?!?!
$120? I get up every single morning at 5:30 AM and send the same type email to what today was 946 people. That’s $113,250 a year!!!
That’s it. I quit it all. I’m quitting the Senate job. I’m definitely not building any more websites. I’m just going to get up in the morning, send out an email, and drink beer for the rest of the day…every day.
Don’t think I’m hating on Will. It’s just the opposite. I’m admiring him because if he can make $113,25o a year on something I’m doing for free, he’s obviously one smart dude.
On final thought. Will writes:

I thought that had to be a joke when I first saw it. People are willing to pay for news links on the Internet? I understand the concept of a clipping service but you’re right, it seems he wants to charge for what you do for free. Not a comprehensive tracking service but just whatever he defines as “news” with links?!
If there were ever a need to prove “A fool and his money…”, this is all the proof you need. But maybe you’re right, Will has it figured out. He’s finally found a way to compile THE definitive list of South Carolina’s dumbest citizens.
