My favorite work day is one that is fully booked. To the max. However, that is also my NECESSARY work day now. I simply don’t have the luxury of wasting time. I need to have every single minute booked. Why?
I’m older now, and I have more responsibilities—especially an awesome wife and two small children. I need and want to spend as much time as I can with them, meaning I don’t have as much time to spend at the office. So when I AM at the office it’s meeting, meeting, meeting, meeting.
And when I travel—like going to DC this week—I want to be sure this time away from my family is 100% utilized.
No lollygagging is allowed. None.
From the time the plane takes off until it lands back in Charleston, I want a schedule that maximizes every single second of the day. Getting together with clients, talking to prospective ones, reaching out to contacts on the Hill, etc. Coffee, beer, dinner? Business, business, business.
I work best with a tight schedule and a full workload. Good thing, right? But it has to be that way.
It really does. It only works for me, my family and Push (and Frothy)(and Zombie Bob’s)(and…) if I work as efficiently as possible. Meaning full tilt. BOOM. Let’s go.
And, as a reminder: no lollygagging. Thank you.
