Your Daily Positive Vibes:
I strongly suggest that you read The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon.
Clemson fans – Gordon works with Clemson a lot and doesn’t shut up in his books about Dabo.
Gamecock fans – yes, you may want to vomit but I promise the book is still a must-read. And I hate to admit it, Dabo can teach us all something about positive leadership.
Anyway, last year I read his book and immediately hung this sign in our conference room. It’s a reminder that we won’t accept negative vibes in our meetings. No excuses. No whining. No complaints. We are meeting to find solutions to problems faced by our clients. Period. Negativity concentrates on problems. Positivity concentrates on solutions.
Vampires who suck the positivity out of our meetings will be dismissed. Vampires who suck the positivity out of our company will be dismissed permanently. Far too often we have let these vampires stay around the company and they became a cancer that spread to everyone else. I no longer let that happen, even if the employee is a stellar worker. Attitude matters.
I’ve taken that same stance on life. I eliminate those people from my circle completely. You know who I’m talking about. They always have drama. They’re always sick. Something in their life is always going wrong. All is dark.
Good friends try to help those people, but sometimes a vampire just cannot be turned. So you must drive a stake right through it’s heart. Okay, not really. You just cut them loose. Sometimes that in turn causes even more drama, but that drama is short-lived and the long term benefits are so numerous they cannot be counted.
Wishing you so many Positive Vibes and for you to be surrounded by positive people!
