Where Should You Be Investing…Content Development or Advertising?

I have buddy who owns a restaurant here in Charleston. He was spending $5000 each month on content development and only $1000 on advertising. I told him to flip those numbers and he will see huge social growth. It’s happening with a 500% increase in reach.

He thought more content was the key. He’s partly right. Storytelling through a lot of content is great, but it doesn’t matter if no one is seeing it.

Let me be clear – organic social is DEAD.

Okay, there are a few exceptions like TikTok. But for the most part you have to pay to play if you’re promoting a business, political campaign or personal brand.

If you have limited funds I would focus on less content with more promotion to a targeted audience. That’s how to get the biggest bang for your buck in terms of both money and time.
