Many times debates aren’t won on the stage. They’re won in the spin room. Such was the case in 2000 when Rick Lazio debated Hillary Clinton in the race for US Senate. Hear Georgia GOP Consultant Chip Lake tell the story in this week’s The Cost of Winning.
Chip Lake currently serves as principal in the consulting firm, Glendale Strategies. Chip started Glendale Strategies in 2011 after six years as Chief of Staff to U.S. Representative Lynn Westmoreland. During the 2022 Cycle, Lake served as Senior Advisor to Herschel Walker’s U.S. Senate Campaign. In 2020, Lake was the General Consultant to U.S. Rep. Doug Collins (GA-09) race for U.S. Senate. In the 2018 cycle, Lake served as General Consultant to Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan. Duncan won a primary runoff election against a sitting State Senate President Pro-Tempore who outspent Duncan 4 to 1. After only receiving 28% of the vote in the Primary, Duncan rallied to win the runoff by a razor-thin 1,456 vote margin and went on 5 months later to win a General Election and become Georgia’s Lieutenant Governor.
