My weekly fitness update
After a couple crappy weeks of being down physically, which put me down emotionally, I’m back on my feet, picking up mileage and almost feeling like the Wesley of 2015 again.
Last week I hit 37 total miles, which is the most I’ve hit in a while. My longest run was 11 miles. As I write this post, it’s Tuesday night and I’ve already hit 25 miles (my week begins on Sunday), including a fun 5k super hero run tonight.
My goal for the week is 45, but if I push it hard, I might be able to hit 50. My body feels great, except for some shin splint issues I’ve never had before. My endurance is way up and I seem to have been able to push past the low energy issue. I’m eating way more and I’m taking some new organic pills that do something with my mitochondria. I have no idea. I’m just doing what my nutritionist says to do. I’ll get more info and report back.
This morning I ran 7.5 miles in 100% humidity. It’s killing me and making it almost impossible to train for a marathon. To combat the crappy weather I’ve been putting a lot more miles in on the treadmill. It gets boring, but I’ve fought that with my iPad and a few good shows. On Sunday I put in 10 miles worth of South Park. As a side note, the new season is as funny as last season and pretty much explains the BS my company has to deal with on a daily basis. Watch it.
Aside from the running, I’m trying to get one F3 bootcamp and two heavy weight days in at the gym each week.
My body feels great and my spirits are high. I’ll be ready for the Savannah Rock and Roll Marathon if I keep progressing this way. I pray that my body stays healthy and my mind remains focused.
