Your Daily Positive Vibes:
I cried this morning. I gotta tell you, I’ve become quite the crier since having kids. All kinds of things just hit me right in the heart. Happy things. Sad things. Things I would never expect. Unfortunately today was a very sad thing.
Right before my run I checked Twitter and read the story of Andre and Jordan Anchondo who were killed in the El Paso mass shooting. Jordan died shielding her two-month-old son, who survived and is expected to make a full recovery. Jordan was confirmed dead a few hours later. They leave behind three children – ages 5, 2 and 2 months old. These children are nearly exactly the ages of our three boys.
I closed my eyes during my run and thought of my in-laws sitting our boys down and telling them that mommy and daddy were now in Heaven. I lost it. These things seem so far away yet they hit so close to home.
It’s hard to write about positivity today because I’m pretty sad. And reading everyone fighting online trying to score political points is making me even more sad.
Today pray for all the victims of this weekend’s shootings and especially for the Anchondo children. And don’t let any online activist tell you it’s not okay to pray. We need a lot of changes in this nation but before any of that’s done we should pray for the people who are devastated right now.
If you find any positivity in this remember that nothing you’re dealing with right now is even close to what the Anchondo children are dealing with. Your life is pretty damn good! So as I said last week… go live it up because you have no idea when your day is coming.
I hope you can find some positivity in a dark day.
