Ahead of the release of No Time To Die, Elizabeth and I are rewatching the Daniel Craig 007 movies. This week I realized I’ve never actually read one of Ian Fleming’s books so I decided to pick up the first one, Casino Royale.
While many of the details are different than the movie, the main plot points remain the same. I always enjoy the book versions because you are able to get inside the characters’ heads in a way not allowed by a movie. This one was even more fascinating because James Bond is one of my all-time favorite characters and the book provides a completely new side to him I had not seen before.
Casino Royale is a short fast read that I recommend to all Bond fans. I’m not saying that I’m going to read all the Bond books, but after finishing this book I immediately ordered Live and Let Die.
