Sometimes cliches are true
Happy Wednesday. I’m off to Orlando for a meeting with one of our corporate clients. I posted this to my Facebook page a couple weeks ago but those things get lost so today I’ll post here with an open invitation for you to join me.
2016 has been a huge year and I’ve knocked out some big goals, including some physical feats I never thought I could do. I always told myself “I can’t do that.” I hear that shit all the time from people. I also hear “you can do anything you put your mind to” which is so cliche that it is almost always ignored.
Here’s the deal people: it’s true. It’s not some mumbo jumbo bullshit. I’m not a runner. There’s no way I can run a marathon or run 200 miles on a six-man ultra marathon team. I’m weak, have never been athletic and I don’t even like getting dirty. I can’t complete a GORUCK event, much less a Heavy or an HTL.
Y’all, let’s be honest here. Anyone who knew me growing up will tell you I’m a wuss. I’m the guy who dressed up for Star Trek conventions. I didn’t play sports. I went 36 years without lifting weights.
But somehow I did all that and more in the last seven months. It’s because I decided I was going to do it, I set goals, I made plans and I stuck to them.
The year isn’t over yet and there’s a lot more to do. So, again, I’m inviting you to join me. Hit me up and let’s start training.
July 15 – Charleston GORUCK Tough
July 16 – Charleston GORUCK Light
