It takes a big ego to run for office. You almost cannot run without one. However, that ego can get too big, get in the way, and even be a candidate’s most fatal flaw. This week we dive into egotism with GOP consultant Austin McCubbin coming off his big win managing Nancy Mace’s congressional race in South Carolina’s first.
Austin McCubbin is a GOP operative, General Consultant, and entrepreneur who first got his start in campaigns at the age of 11 in 1994. After graduating from Transylvania University in 2005, he became the body man and Director of Advance to the Governor of Kentucky. After spending 2008 and 2009 in Iraq supporting the U.S. Army’s Combat Support Hospital (CSH) in Baghdad, he began his career in campaigns in 2010 managing Andy Barr’s primary (KY-01) and as a fundraising consultant for Rand Paul’s initial U.S. Senate bid. Austin recently managed U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace’s re-election campaign.
